The Tempest... Cast List

Please take a look at the cast list below and see if there is a role you would like to play. We cannot guarantee everyone will get the part they want but we will give parts out fairly following auditions (this coming week).
In the meantime, please can everyone be practising the songs!

See you tomorrow,

Vaisakhi Sikh workshop

Last week we were fortunate enough to have Mrs Singh come in to speak to us as a whole school about the Sikh religion and Vaisakhi or Baisakhi which is a historical and religious festival celebrating the Sikh New Year and Harvest Festival. As part of this we got to explore elements of their culture- from dancing and singing to food tasting and fashion it was fantastic!

Below are a couple of snaps from what was clearly year 6's favourite part of the day: food tasting- we saw how to make chapatis and then, best of all, got to try them for ourselves!

And finally, I don't feel I would be doing our oldest pupils justice if I did not give them a shout out for their dancing abilities as they showcased some rather impressive moves during our whole school assembly... I'm sure, if you asked them, they would be only too happy to demonstrate!

SATs week

Well, we've made it- SATs week is here and we are ready for it. I know some of you are nervous, but trust me when I say:

Please make sure that, especially this week, you look after yourselves. Eat well, stay hydrated and rest. Get to bed early so you wake up refreshed and raring to go.

If you feel you want to look over things you don't feel 100% confident with then that is absolutely fine but don't burn yourself out; you have been taught everything you could need to know for this week- all that's left to do is bring it out of the filing cabinet and put it to use as best you can.

And finally, remember: all we ask is that you do your best; that is all anyone can ask of you.

REVISION: Division written method

The  calculations we generally need most work with are division questions. Below is a tutorial to help you revise your written method for this; please practice as much as possible to ensure you get the hang of it before having a go at the questions provided.

Something important to note is that your times tables are invaluable in reaching the correct answer as these sometimes let us down still... If you're still a little rusty with some of these then make sure you take time to practise these too. (short division answers as decimals or fractions)

PRE-LOAD: Transformations- Translations, Reflections, Rotations

We have started looking at transformations this week in maths and now that we seem to have the hang of coordinates, it's time to make good use of them!

Please see the tutorial below to help you with how to translate (slide), reflect (flip) and rotate (turn) shapes/ points. You will be using these skills later this week so get ahead and master those manoeuvres!

Let us know if you would like any more help,
